German help

I've received a bundle of German text that needs some translating. I've tried online translators but they're pretty much shit. I'd be most greatful.

Danke.

Re: German help

of course online translators are shit, they are too literal, if you really need it translating, i can probably get it done, but it wont be until tomorrow, and i cant tell you how good it will be (my wife speaks quite good german)

Re: German help

Speaking of which, I picked up a swiss-german music cd off a travelling tourist the other day.

S'bescht Mundart-Album wo's git (apparently it sold quite well over in swedan)

I haven't got a clue what any of them are singing but it sounds kinda whacky.

Re: German help

Maybe we are coarser here in Norway, but we learned the real swearwords....
Incidentaly I only had 2 weeks of German, after which I was thrown out of class and forced to take second-level French (I hardly spoke a word of it....)

Re: German help

My only good memory of learning German was running around Munich shouting 'wir haben das Krieg gewonnen' when on a school trip.

I've mentioned that before i'm sure.

I chose German at school because i refuse to learn French out of principle.

Re: German help

I spent about 10 years learning German at school. I can just about say my name, where I live, and name my family etc. Oh, and
mein leiblingsfussballmanshaft* (spelling??) ist <>

Edit:
*writing man shaft on these forums is suicide, I know

Re: German help

I ate your mother for breakfast is a fantastic sentence.

I should get back into the german thing again. I much prefer german grammar to french grammar.

Phalon 12 Jun 2005 23:28

Re: German help

Yes, my most recent memory is from 8 years ago.

A time when a man could be in employ as a clown and not suffer constant duress from society.

Happier times for all i feel :(

Re: German help

From Playing Commandos (the PC Game) i also picked up the ever-useful phrase 'ein ka-lester' (no idea what the exact word is but i think it means 'a dead man').

That turned some heads when the exchange students came over aswell.

My god we were funny :(

Well, it actually means "I eat your mother before my breakfast"

("Ich esse Deine Mutter vor meinem Frühstück")

vor = before
für = for

What you mean is "Ich esse Deine Mutter zum Frühstück"
