Subprime crisis
 
I found this vid about the subprime mortgage crisis. You've proberbly already seen it, but I decided to post it anyway as it's pretty funny. For those who haven't been following the news this will proberbly be the most striking explanation of the crisis that you will get.

The term "subprime" in mortgage lending refers to loans that do not meet Federal National Mortgage Association or Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation guidelines.

ASG they've used it here, it's kind of like a way of spinning the lending problems I think. It pretty much means crap
