The Job Center

A suggestion for an entirely new feature to Planetarion, which would greatly improve the ways of playing this game and bring some joy for scanners/covopper/solo planets.

Welcome to the JOB CENTER

What can we help you with today? Need a scan done? Need someone roided? Need a covert operation? You are at the right place.

At the Job Center, every paid planet can request a scan, a covert operation or even propose a reward for roiding someone, who has been a real pain in the ass. All comes at a certain price and everyone out there interested in the job can undertake it. The quickest one win, although be advised that there is a limit of jobs you can undertake in one day.

Yeah, so, basically the Job Center will be separated into three different parts - Scans, Cover Operations, and Bounties. Every paid planet can place a request and everyone can undertake one. The idea is fairly simple - to provide the scanner and covoppers with motivation to do what they are doing and provide some excitement out of the game. And, of course, a new way of trading between planets.

SCANS through the Job Center should cost at least twice what they do normally and even more for planets with 50+ Wave Distorters or 100+. The hardest the scan, the more the scanner earn. Resources are delivered in 3 ticks after completing the job (to avoid exploiting). The daily limit of scan requests should stand at 10. And the limit of scans completed in a day by a scanner should be at 48 (2 scans per ticks).

COVERT OPERATIONS are a powerful tool in certain situations, often underestimated. This is now going to change. Everyone will be able to request one done on another planet and the price for it is entirely up to the one requesting. The minimum for any covert operation, however, is 20,000 of each resource type, while the maximum stands at 100,000 of each resource. Covoppers will have to be very careful while choosing which requests to undertake as their daily limit stands at 5 requests done a day. Those requestion should also keep in mind that they can't ask for more than 3 covert operations a day.

BOUNTIES will provide a new edge to the attacking in Planetarion. Often smaller planets are harassed by bigger ones, sometimes farming them on daily basis. Now there is a way to request help. You can place a reward for those brave enough to undertake the challenge. If the one undertaking the bounty manages to cap at least 10% of the target planet roids, the bounty is successfully completed. You can only put a reward on a planet bigger than yours and you can only put a reward on a planet that was already once successfully roided by bounty hunters after 72 ticks have passed.

The margin of the bounty depends on target planet's value:
500,000 value - 100,000 of each resource type (50,000 minimum - 100,000 maximum
1,000,000 value - 200,000 of each resource type (100,000 minimum - 200,000 maximum)
2,000,000 value - 400,000 of each resource type (200,000 minimum - 400,000 maximum)
4,000,000 value - 800,000 of each resource type (400,000 minimum - 800,000 maximum)
4,000,000+ value - 1,000,000 of each resource type.

If your bounty is not completed in 48 ticks, it expires and you can place a new one. However, 3% of the bounty is taken by the Bounty Hunters Guild for their trouble.

Payment is due only after a planet successfully caps at least 10% of target's planet roids and has chosen to undertake the challenge. Only those that launch after the placement of the bounty count towards the challenge. The first one wins the reward. Upon successful completion of a bounty, the bounty hunter also receives 300 XP as a reward.

You can only complete one bounty per 24 ticks.

I do realise some parts of this feature have already been proposed in the past and eventually rejected. However, I think with a bit of work, we can have a very nice feature, bringing entirely new possibilities to the game. It's a just a matter of carefully adjusting the limits and making sure one would not be able to use the Job Center for donations instead of its initial purpose.

Looking forward to some feedback.

Have a great day :)

Cool idea.

Planets/Galaxies/Alliances could set different bounties:

- Kill 300k value of 1:1:1 - 1m of each resource as a reward

Re: The Job Center

Scans and cov ops would work, but bounties exist in another (similar) game and we see a lot of abuse. Bounties only allowed between alliances at war or neutral (not allied or napped) would be a minimum.

What kind of abuse?

Re: The Job Center

let me take the bounty on you, i'll set up a bounty on a friend so you can land it for free.

I think it's all about the balance of the enforced limitations. It will probably take a round or two until all gets tested and sorted, but it's pretty doable to get it working properly.

Re: The Job Center

I'm surprised PA hasn't introduced micro transactions yet.
10 roids for $1, 100 for $8.99
100k each resource for $1, 1mil each for $8.99
And, allow sale of roids and ships between planets, get some egpal action!

:salute:

I'm inclined to agree with Makhil. In a community as incestuous as PA's, there's no way to represent (or even detect!) all the ways people know each other and cooperate with each other. Everyone knows everyone else, and there's a nearly limitless number of ways of pulling the kind of bounty swap that Makhil suggests off. There are some good ideas here, and I'm always happy to see more ways for people to interact with each other, but not at the expense of fair play. Most of them are just fine, but a couple are problematic.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Alezzar again.

keep the good ideas flowing

Re: The Job Center

Perhaps you are both right about the possible exploits that come with the Bounties, but then again - testing it for a round with severe limitation wouldn't hurt that much. Up to PA team after all, maybe they will have another idea for it.

@Paisley - thank you :)

The scanning and covopping idea is absolutely awesome!

I have some concerns regarding the bounty, but it would be interesting to see it get tested in some future round.

Still hoping for some feedback/thoughts from PA team.

@Nore - thank you :)
