June 6th

66 years ago today, many young men gave their lives for the illusion we call freedom.

I salute their heroism.

Many other young men gave their lives in defense of state control.

I weep for them.

I salute all the men/women, even the ones that weren't brave. Especially the ones that weren't brave!

Only one person in my family fought in WW2 - WW1 is more my cup of tea :(

One side of my family fought against Japan, some died in Japanese camps.
The other side got rich during the war, which is just as honorable I suppose.

Lots of other things makee me feel far more humble in my own mortality. Some examples: Anything space related (that isn't a text based online game), and 47millions year old fossils.

I have to admit, people 2 generations older than me dying, doesn't :(
