XP points for being roided and attacked

This way, being roided/attacked has "some" advantages. This also could be a cure for fencesitting.

Besides, it only makes sense realistically, that if you're on the receiving end of an offense, you should still earn more combat experience for being on the defense.

could lead to blocks xp-farming internally by sending fleets which have no consequence or wont be targetted

as with everything else - you have to work out how it can be abused as odds are, someone will

It might work if you let the XP also depend on losses taken, but the abuse thing is too risky indeed

Re: XP points for being roided and attacked

it would basically be the same as oldschool salvage farming :P too damn easy to abuse :)

there's just too much chance of abusing this

I concur, abuse is just too easy.

Re: XP points for being roided and attacked

Some amount of compensation for defending would be cool though.
A sort of formula like there is for xp on attack but then with nr of saved roids, attacker shiploss, defender shiploss, ...
Not too much though so it won't be abused much, maybe like 10-20% of xp you normally gain on attack.
Haven't really thought it through that much though tbh :p

You get salvage don't you? Besides, being roided already IS advantage enough if you're an XP-whore :D

The XP-system is fine enough as it is.

Re: XP points for being roided and attacked

You could initate 800 roids then log off for a day or two and come back with 120 roids and lots of XP?

Re: XP points for being roided and attacked

And what if you send def and then the attacker does not land? No XP, no salvage, and a wasted fleet which is what happens now.

This would be too easy not to take everything into account and be abused. The benefit to defending is that others in your gal or alliance are more likely to defend you. Instead how about a def point counter for the galaxies each time you send def. Could be viewed by all on the politics page.

As Phil^ says the potential for this to be abused is imense. This would then bring up more new "rules" such as the ones that were brought in regarding support planets, thus making the multihunters job even more of a nightmare.

Re: XP points for being roided and attacked

One way of implementing it might involve the amount of XP gained by the attacker.

IE, if the attacker gets max XP, the defender gets nothing. However, if the attacker is hiting someone smaller the defender gets more XP.

It encourages people to attack people bigger than themselves.

However, still open to abuse.

Re: XP points for being roided and attacked

Yeah, open to abuse etc.

'CONGRATS ON HAVING A SHIT FLEET COMP, HAVE SOME XP'
'YOU'RE ALLIANCE SUCKS AT DEF, HAVE SOME SCORE!11'

Don't like it personally. It doesn't need you to do anything, except perhaps build a very unbalanced fleet...

Re: XP points for being roided and attacked

I think the big alliances will profit the most. If you get XP by succesfully defending someone (big alliances tend to do such things) the big players with a lot of roid will grow enormous amounts.

But i do like the idea, it will give that extra push in the back to actually defend other people in your galaxy (or alliance). When it's an inactive galaxy it really isn't profitable or even useful to defend your galaxy. But when you get something in return for your effort besides the salvage. It would give the small guys in the heavily attacked galaxies another chance to actually grow.

Then we'd have a defensive round for a chance :)
