Thank You For Your Kind Thoughts

Yes, I had a heart attack and emergency open heart surgery. However, I promise I shall not fall into the "Old Folks Syndrome" where I post innumerable and interminable threads about my health.

I was in distress but never in pain. There were some complications afterwards caused by over medication. However, now that I am properly regimented, everything is going well. I will be off of work for a few months but one must take the bitter with the sweet.

I am recovereing to the point where I am going to get myself a passport for the first time in my life, and if the pound doesn't price me out of the market, arund this time next year I am going to come to London. I have decided that putting things off that you have always wanted to do can be a dangerous thing.

At any rate, I am back and very touched that people said nice things about me. Even my Marxist-Lennonist friend Zhukov said something nice, But, now back to normal! Let the venom flow.

Good to hear that you're now on the mend, old man :).

Why would you want to go to dreary old london? Are you sure that you didnt take a small bump to the head as well as a heart attack? ;).

Good to hear.

Btw i wouldn't come to london, a few people have been stabbed in the recent weeks so unless you have knife proof vesting, stay away for a while.

Indeed. It would be terribly unfortunate to have an impromptu heart surgery in the street on the end of some chav's unsanitary blade.

Heart surgery shouldnt be free for foreigners! ;)

I hear there's millions of people in London that haven't gotten stabbed.

But that's me, always looking on the bright side of life.

I posted my intentions to come to London in a year. I assume that all necessary prcautions will be taken by the Queen and Parlament to correct any unfortunate situations before my arrival. If they do not act properly I shall report them to Yahwe!

That's because millions of people in London live in safe areas or don't have people carrying knifes willing to use it. I am not one of those lucky people. I've been this close to being drilled by some thug who I accidentally stepped on his "creps" (which apparently means shoes). That's one of many "close" ones.

Earlier this year I was assaulted by someone in Kingston Upon Thames for no reason by some ****ing idiot who felt punching me was pointless so instead booted my face like it was a football. Result? KO'd, too much blood due to excessive head and nose injuries sustained. I'm having two surgeries booked to fix the damage done as I've been having breathing problems and the damage caused was made worse by my platelet disorder.

Anyway my list could go on but I don't want to hijack dda's thread. My point is, those people that aren't victim to bloody idiots just get on with life and find it easy to sweep under the carpets the increasing crime (despite whatever fabricated crime reports suggest) in London.

dda, I suggest you invest in this before you arrive in London - http://www.stabproofvest.co.uk/

Rubber ducky's are also quite helpful as protection

Oh God, Internet thug life here we come. All going off up in Kingston Upon Thames, it's proper ghetto up there innit blood ?

Knife crime in the UK is at remarkably similar levels as it was 10 years ago, while stabbings are horrible London has a population of 7 million, in a city of that size there's bound to be some nasty people. You'll have a great time in London, bits of it are lovely and the touristy parts in the centre are as safe as any other developed world city. You make out he'll be stepping off the plane into Kahndahar.

Glad to hear you're on the mend and hope you have a great time doing the things you've always put off !

I don't live in London at the moment (I'm about 20-30 minutes out) but I used to, and I spend quite a lot of time there as most of my friends are there. I've never been threatened, mugged or stabbed. None of my friends have either.

Horrible things do happen in places - but that's true of everywhere. There was a bombing in EXETER a month or so ago, for christ's sake. It doesn't mean you'll get blown up if you go there!

Stop being so melodramatic and hang out in less dark alleys.

On topic (sorry), glad to hear you're coping ok dda! Don't try to beat me in the hospital condition stakes though, yeah? I had cancer... I will always win...

I hear that dda actually died under the knife and Al Qaeda have seized his identity and his sudden desire to visit Britain is actually a cover for coming to London to murder people.

Hope you are on the mend, Mr Al-Wahid.

It's not very GD to say.

So I have chosen to do it by bumping a thread, which itself is not very GD.

But I'm glad to see you better young man.

Hope you are on the mend, Mr Al-Wahid.

I have now obtained, for the first time in my live, a passport so I still plan on seeing London. Since the internet is monitored, they did insist on listing Al-Wahid as an alias.

IT is not to be thought of that the flood
Of British freedom, which, to the open sea
Of the world’s praise, from dark antiquity
Hath flowed, ‘with pomp of waters, unwithstood,’
Roused though it be full often to a mood
Which spurns the check of salutary bands,
That this most famous Stream in bogs and sands
Should perish; and to evil and to good
Be lost for ever. In our halls is hung
Armoury of the invincible knights of old:
We must be free or die, who speak the tongue
That Shakespeare spoke: the faith and morals hold
Which Milton held.—In everything we are sprung
Of Earth’s first blood, have titles manifold.

Re: Thank You For Your Kind Thoughts

Tourists in london tend to get fleeced by mini cab drivers, shops or hotels, not stabbed !

Its the teenagers who actually live there that tend to get assaulted or stabbed.

Has anyone compared the knife and gun crimes in london to those in NewYork, as it a compatable city in size or population ?
