Scan Computers
I bought a XFX 320mb 8800GT about 2 years ago.
It decided to give up the ghost and so i sent it back RMA to Scan. They say that it is faulty and offer me a replaced 384MB XFX 9600 GSO XXX This offer costs £86.99 inc vat, while I paid £189 inc vat for the 8800gt. They said that by law they only have to give me a GFX card which has the same or better specs, not by original value. I was always thought it was based on value? Anyone else had this before? |

Re: Scan Computers
except that the 9600 isnt anywhere near as good as the 8800?
also, dont all XFX cards have a lifetime guarentee from XFX themselves? and was the 320Mb 8800GT even out 2 years ago - mine is just a year old and im fairly sure that it wasnt out for a year before i got one, plus wtf are scan doing anything with it after 2 years for? your post doesnt add up mate |
Re: Scan Computers
There never was a 8800GT 320MB, you either have a 8800 GT 256, 8800 GT 512 or a 8800 GTS 320. If your card is the first or last on that list, then the 9600 GSO is marginally better. If it's the middle one, you got ripped off. Can't help you with the law stuff.

Re: Scan Computers

Re: Scan Computers
The 9600 GSO is actually an 8800 GS, which in turn is a crippled 8800 GT. You should ask for a 9800GT (which in reality is a 8800GT with a new label) instead. Gotta love those guys.

Re: Scan Computers
on the plus side, the 9800 should use less power than the 88 from what i remember :)
