As a postgraduate student; are you still exempt from paying?

If you're full-time then no. Presuming you're living only with full-time students.

So what, let me get this straight. If you're a full time post-graduate student you arent exempt; but if you're a part time post-graduate student you are exempt?

(lets say for arguments sake ill be living with other students)

Full time post-grad students do not pay council tax as long as you live with other students. God knows about part timers but who cares?

JC's right, it took one phone call from me saying I was studying full time at uni and I was exempt.

Sorry I meant "no, you won't have to pay", not "no you're not exempt." Apologies Deffeh.

Ring up your local council and ask.

It will however depend on who you live with, so be prepared with the information as to whether they are "full time" or "part time" students and whether any of them work or not. Also, you'll probably have to fill in a form repeating anything you say on the phone, but that's just bureaucracy for you.
